The original fascist ideology, founded in Italy by Giovanni Gentile and Benito Mussolini, is referred to as Italian fascism (Italian: fascismo italiano), often known as classical fascism or just fascism. The Republican Fascist Party, which controlled the Italian Social Republic from 1943 to 1945, and the National Fascist Party (PNF), which dominated the Kingdom of Italy from 1922 to 1943, are two political organisations linked to the philosophy. Both were led by Benito Mussolini. The post-World War II Italian Social Movement and later Italian neo-fascist movements are also linked to Italian fascism.
