Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix series), Isabelle Fuhrman (The Novice), Liana Liberato (To the Bone), and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) have all agreed to participate in Justine Bateman’s forthcoming film Face, which is based on her 2021 best-seller Face: One Square Foot of Skin.

With Moss playing Mrs. Foster, a kindergarten teacher who is constantly reminded of the miraculous functioning of the face by her young kids, Parker will portray Tanya, an actor juggling the urge to not move her face at all with the necessity to utilize it for her work. Fuhrman has been cast in the role of Chris, a 30-year-old who is horrified by the warnings that her attractiveness is about to expire. Liberato will play Jenny, a waitress who is determined to succeed on the basis of her appearance and who rejects the idea that those appearances will ever change at all.

The film will consist of 14 funny and emotional vignettes from Justine Bateman’s examining the ageing of women’s faces and the reasons why it enrages people. Face exposes some of the various ways in which women and those around them let this concept to take root at all, despite the fact that a large portion of society seems to believe that women’s features are somehow flawed and need to be corrected.

Face will begin filming in Los Angeles in the late fall, with Bateman and Veronica Radaelli producing under her Section 5 label (Violet, 9 Bullets). The project’s executive producer is Cassian Elwes (Mudbound, Dallas Buyers Club), while casting is being handled by Mary Vernieu and Bret Howe.
