The genre of eco-conscious fiction appears to be flourishing.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Russell Goldman, and artist Karl Stevens will introduce eco-horror to the mix with their latest creation, Mother Nature.
This 176-page full-color hardcover graphic novel is scheduled for release in July 2023.
It is based on the script from the upcoming Comet Pictures and Blumhouse film, which Curtis and Goldman co-wrote, and Curtis will direct.
The Synopsis
The story centers around Nova Terrell, who witnessed her father’s mysterious death on one of Cobalt Corporation’s experimental oil extraction projects.
Growing up, Nova developed a strong disdain for the company, which the town of Catch Creek, New Mexico, relied on for its economic stability.
In her rebellious campaign against the oil giant, Nova engages in acts of sabotage and vandalism.
However, one fateful night, Nova makes a horrifying discovery about the true nature of the Mother Nature project and the vengeful entity it has awakened.
The entity, long-dormant, poses a threat to the very existence of the town and its inhabitants, leaving Nova to confront the consequences of her actions.
Jamie Lee Curtis
Although Jamie Lee Curtis is an experienced and multi-award winning actor and director, with her first-time Oscar nomination for Everything Everywhere All At Once, her turn to writing is not new.
She has been writing children’s books since 1993 and blogging with the Huffington Post from 2011 to 2017.
However, her foray into writing comics is a recent development.
According to Curtis, she had thought of the story for her latest project when she was only 19 years old.
The story deals with the imbalanced relationship between humans and nature, and how nature ultimately triumphs over human actions.
Despite her young age, Curtis was always aware of this issue and its potential consequences.
